WorldSBK riders recently got the upcoming Championship Round at Chang International Circuit kicked into gear with a pre-occasion in the bustling Thai metropolis of Bangkok. WorldSBK reigning Champion Jonathan Rea, MotoGP Legend Nicky Hayden and 2013 British Superbike Champion Alex Lowes first enjoyed a meeting with Thailands Sport authority representative Mr. Dage Jaikla, as WorldSBK gets to know Bangkok just before setting course for Buriram.
Setting sail was the theme of the afternoon’s activities, as the riders then took to the water in Thai boats to go and see one of Bangkok’s plethora of landmarks: Wat Aroon. On the banks of the Chao Phraya River, the Buddhist temple offered the beautiful backdrop for both photo opportunities and in-demand interviews ahead of the upcoming race weekend in Buriram, set a handful of hours north-east of the very first stop on the Thai adventure.
From the capital, WorldSBK now heads for Chang International Circuit by means of a visit to a Silk Village, with culture and neighborhood expertise the concentrate of the first handful of days in the spectacular South East Asian country before the engines fire up once again on Friday for Round two to get underway.
